Bethany & Mason

Their Story

While Bethany was attending college at Nicholls State, she worked at a local sports bar. One night, Mason was one of the patrons at said sports bar. Unsurprisingly enough, Mason just had to meet Bethany…Luckily for Mason his cousin, Sloan, just so happened to be in the same sorority as Bethany…talk about meant to be!

Mason and Bethany had their first date at “Christmas in the Oaks'“ (one of the most romantic date night spots around), along with each of their respective best friend…. - side note: Their best friends started dating each other shortly after… and were married last year! - Officially Mason and Bethany have been together since December 21st, 2013.

The Ceremony

The procession had a certain elegance to it; from the bridesmaids dresses to the flower pedals lining the aisle. The bridesmaids floated down the aisle to “Love Me Like You Do” by Vitamin String Quartet. (If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience that song, take a minute to do so, you’ll thank me later). As Bethany proceeded toward Mason to the tune of “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” -Vitamin String Quartet-, she was glowing so brightly that we could have turned all of the lights off in the building and would still have to squint. The officiant was charismatic and personal, almost as if he had known “Brittany” and Mason their whole lives. The wedding party exited the ceremony to “Rewrite the Stars” - The Piano Guys.

The Reception

The River Room was arranged in such a way that allowed for a large dance floor (Our Favorite) and the other half was dinner tables. Chandeliers line the ceilings while uplighting lined the walls. We added our motion lighting, directed towards the ceiling adding a glow to the area. The venue started passing out some of the most delectable food I’ve ever had. We RARELY eat at weddings as we are typically busy and we dislike the idea of guests seeing us chowing down on pasta while we’re working….. but we were brought a plate…. and it smelled amazing… and… it would have been impolite to not accept. :) To reiterate, the shrimp pasta and jambalaya….AMAZING. Getting back on track, Mason and Bethany danced to Lee Brice - “I Don’t Dance”. Bethany mentioned that the reason this song was selected for their first dance was because all of Mason’s friends (especially fraternity brothers) always joked stating “They don’t know how (Bethany) locked him down”. For that reason, this track makes perfect sense…Mason simply hadn’t had a connection like this before and he couldn’t imagine NOT “dancing” with Bethany. For the Father/Daughter dance, “Dream on” - Aerosmith was selected. (I’m assuming there is a story there, but not certain). Lastly, Mason danced with his mother to “I Hope You Dance” - Lee Ann Womack.

I don’t dance, but here I am
Spinning you around and around in circles
It ain’t my style, but I don’t care
I’d do anything with you anywhere
Yes, you got me in the palm of your hand
’Cause, I don’t dance
— Dallas Davidson / Lee Brice / Rob Hatch

The dancing portion of the reception started more interestingly than most weddings. We started some upbeat music to start getting people moving, but after a couple of songs the mother of the bride asked us to play a song that does not get much airtime. (She asked because someone had asked her to ask us to play it. lol) Either way, we obliged and played “Brass Monkey” - Beastie Boys. Overall, that was our cue to push the party a little further. The guests were having a great time dancing to nearly everything, however I did acquire some insider information on a song this group loves dearly and the dance floor was immediately packed. “Second Chance” by 38 Special. While there were several songs played that really stood out to us; some specifically requested by Bethany were: “Anywhere” - Dillon Frances, “Feel Good” - Gryffin & Illenium, “Crash Into Me” - Dave Matthews Band. All three of which we have never played at a wedding before however the bride’s face lit up like Christmas morning when those songs were played. Especially “Crash Into Me” which Instantly prompted our happy couple to dance together, which we love seeing. The last song of the night is a song we love to play last just because of it’s underlying implications. “Something Just Like This” - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay. As always, that song was a great way to top off this wonderful night.

A really big thank you to Bethany and Mason for having us celebrate their wedding day with them! Here’s to a lifetime of “dancing” together!
