Phillip and Christina - Family Fun

  • Ormond Plantation (map)

Phillip and Christina's ceremony was nothing short of beautiful. Their venue, Ormond Plantation in Destrehan, overflows with culture and of course several big amazing Oak trees, which is a phenomenal backdrop for any wedding. Although we provide the microphone for the ceremony, we cannot take credit for the music. That was all taken care of by Dr. Jazz.

As the ceremony ended and guests started entering into the reception area, we set the vide of the evening with some light yet upbeat Jazz. Things really got interesting when it came time for Phillip and Christina's couples dance. They chose a song that we have absolutely never used for a couples dance; "Africa" - Toto. We of course had to ask why that was their song. It was too specific of a selection without having a story. As it turns out, Christina and Phillip are service people and early on in their relationship there were many long hours on the phone, and without any reason, very often one of them would always hum "Africa". Although a very different choice for a couple dance song, it is a perfect selection. It created a time eluding memory for them. The Parents dance was another fantastic selection; "Sweet Pea" - Amos Lee.

In short, it was a great family celebration. Jonathan did mention that he has not seen a bride so ecstatic in quite some time. Christina was, as the phrase goes, "Over the Moon". Jonathan also mentioned that "That's why we do what we do." - In regards to knowing we helped create joy for someone on one of their most memorable days of their lives.
