Byron and Lindsey - A "Rave" of a Party

  • Maison Dupuy Hotel (map)

Bryon and Lindsey

Byron and Lindsey are from Jacksonville, FL, but chose to have a destination wedding in Nola for the food and party atmosphere. This is one couple that is good friends with partying.I was nervous going in with some of their song selections, however, I was promised, that these people want to party.  As with most New Orleans Wedding we play for, we always have some good NOLA Jazz adding the atmosphere of a courtyard wedding. The Ceremony was beautiful, but the exit is where Byron and Lindsey really started to give their wedding a touch of their flavor. As a DJ I'm embarrassed to say, however their recessional song I've never heard before.  "Good Times Roll" by Big Gigantic & Griz. It was the perfect track to set the mood for what was to come. - I'll have an article about that track later this week-

During the cocktail hour, people were seeming to have a good time mingling and snacking. Shortly after Byron and Lindsey made their entrance, you could just feel the energy starting to build. They made a fantastic selection for their first dance as a married couple, "Say You Won't Let Go" - James Author

The Reception

FatherOfTheBride.JPG

As dinner began Tommy and I was playing some Ole Blue Eyes (Frank Sinatra), Michael Buble, and of course some Nat King Cole. We slowly worked our way into playing some modern dance/pop such as "Get Low" by Zedd, The Weeknd, and a track I absolutely love by Steve Aoki - "All Night." At some point, we played Kiss by Prince, and little did I know, that was Lindsey's Father's Karaoke song. SO, of course, he wanted the mic to sing along, gathering quite a good bit of guest energy. Tommy and I then noticed that we still had 2 hours remaining and there is 70% of guests on the dance floor and have been for the last hour...... We had to slow down for just a few minutes, as we were afraid of tiring them out.

Suddenly the background lighting in the venue went dark (no we didn't have anything to do with that)... :)

The ambient lighting going down combined with our motion lights and of course with the build of the snare roll from "Turn Down For What,", we knew, "It's About to Go Down" Tommy and I played everything from Baby Got Back to Skrillex to Major Lazer to Missy Elliot.

This wedding easily falls into my top five! I can't even tell you how good of a time Tommy and I had! This wedding is the reason we do what we do!

As always, a huge Thank You to Bryon and Lindsey for having us to be a part of their memories. Ans, Thank You to Maison Dupuy for taking care of us, they are always a pleasure to work with.
